The History of Hosiery Conclusion
In the end, this research illuminated an aspect of labour history that has been largely overlooked by historians. While an important part of the commercial sector, hosiery has been often excluded from dress history and those who manufactured it seem to have been forgotten to time.
Hopefully this research is the first step in rectifying this neglect. In these oral interviews, I was told stories of love, fear, desparation, joy, and family. I learned about intricate machinery and work so exhausting it is hard to imagine
The history of hosiery is now a subject that I am incredibly passionate about and I am thrilled to be able to share it with all of you.
